Vito Salamone

Vito Salamone, 85, of Brady Township passed away at Allegheny General Hospital at 5:20 a.m. Friday.

He was born in Fredricktown, Washington County, on Sept. 24, 1928, to Sebastiano “Sam” Salamone and Antonia “Anna” Santoro Salamone.

He married Hilma Ilena McGinnis on April 28, 1964.

Mr. Salamone had worked in construction and had been a member of Local 323 of Butler.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Hilma Salamone of Slippery Rock; one daughter, Susan A. Salamone of Slippery Rock; one stepdaughter, Paula and her husband, Norm Sundell of Shelby, N.C.; one stepson, R. Michael Holstine of Slippery Rock; two step-grandchildren, Eric and his wife, Paula Sundell, and Jeff and his wife, Angie Sundell; and six step-great-grandchildren, Caleb, Abigail, Miriam, Anna, Lydia and Samantha.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Sebastiano “Sam” Bartholomew Salamone; and one brother, Sebastiano Francis “Frank” Salamone.

SALAMONE — Private funeral services for Vito Salamone, who died Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, will be at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, at 2 p.m. Tuesday with burial to follow on the family farm in Brady Township, Butler County.
