Arthur T. Schoedel

Arthur T. Schoedel, 73, of Southold, N.Y., died at Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport on Tuesday.

He was born in Pittsburgh on Dec. 29, 1939, to Arthur George and Ruth (née Doherty) Schoedel.

Raised and educated in Zelienople, he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1965, and was stationed at the Suffolk County AFB in Westhampton Beach.

Arthur then went to work for Grumman in Calverton as an aircraft mechanic until his retirement in 1974.

In his free time, he enjoyed sports and was an avid NASCAR fan.

He also enjoyed membership in the Griswold-Terry-Glover Post 803 of the American Legion.

Surviving are his children, Arthur of Southold, N.Y., Jeannette Cooper of New Suffolk, N.Y., and Chris of North Dakota; 10 siblings; and six grandchildren.

Schoedel — The friends of Arthur T. Schoedel, who died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 2678 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township. A Mass of Christian burial will be at the St. Ferdinand Church at 10 a.m. Monday with interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Warrendale, Pa.In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be appreciated.
