Mary M. Diehl

Mary M. Diehl, 97, of Lancaster, Ohio, passed away Dec. 17, 2013, at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair, Neb.

She was born on March 12, 1916, in Erie to Benjamin S. and Rachel M. (Corbet) Johns. She grew up in the Butler area.

After high school graduation, she attended the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh. She graduated as a registered nurse in 1939.

She was united in marriage to Philip John Diehl, who later became a pastor in the EUB Church. The couple served in several different churches, ending with Philip's early death in Baltimore, Ohio. Mary worked as a nurse for more than 30 years in Ohio.

Mary's faith was paramount to her and she was always active in the church. She supported several children with the Christian Children's Fund over the years. She was an avid seamstress and made dresses as a ministry. Over the years, she made countless amounts of clothing for her family. She always worked hard to provide educational opportunities for her children. Her deep faith in Christ was the foundation of her entire life.

She is survived by her children, Betty Landis, Jack Diehl, Jim Diehl, Barbara Diehl and Jean Shaffer; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters and three grandchildren.

DIEHL — Services for Mary M. Diehl, who died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, already took place and arrangements were handled by the Campbell-Aman Funeral Home, Blair, Neb.
