Geraldine M. Hawk, 98, of Butler, formerly of East Brady, died Jan. 18 at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.

Born on May 19, 1915, in Barger Hollow, Perry Township, Clarion County, she was the daughter of Ledney E. and Mazie F. (Barger) Keefer.

On May 6, 1939, she married John J. Hawk, and he preceded her in death in January 1983.

Geraldine was a member of the North Main Street Church of God in Butler. She was a former Sunday School teacher, a member of the Missionary Group and an assistant librarian at the church.

Geraldine had a special talent for reciting Christian poetry. She enjoyed entertaining her friends with many poems.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Rodney J. Hawk of Asheville, N.C., and her two grandchildren.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother; her granddaughter; and her two sisters.

HAWK — A memorial service for Geraldine M. Hawk, who died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, will be 11 a.m. Monday at the North Main Street Church of God with Pastor Brandon Lenhart officiating. Her burial in Bear Creek Cemetery will be private.In lieu of flowers, the Hawk family suggests contributions be made to the Christian Women's Connection, C/O North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N.
