Brown keys SRU to 77-61 triumph

Maron Brown scored 28 points and added 11 rebounds as the Slippery Rock University men's basketball team downed Chestnut Hill College 77-61 in Philadelphia Saturday.

It was Brown's fourth double-double in four games this season for The Rock (2-2).

Jabril Bailey added 20 points and nine rebounds and Tabari Perry chipped in 10 points and five boards for SRU.

The Rock shot 45.6 percent from the floor in the game, but continued to struggle from beyond the 3-point arc, making just 4-of-18.

SRU went on a 17-4 run midway through the first half to erase an early 20-13 deficit and took a 35-32 lead over Chestnut Hill into halftime.

A 10-0 run by The Rock in the second half put the game away.

Brown is now 15th on the school's all-time career rebounding list with 582 boards in three seasons.

The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team fell behind 42-14 at the half against Findlay in an 83-56 loss at Morrow Field House Sunday.The Rock (0-4) got 12 points from Danielle Smith.Alex Beatty added 11 point and Shannon Lee 10 points for SRU, which made just four shots from the field in the first half.Findlay (4-1) shot 63 percent in the game and 73 percent from the floor in the second half.
