Haywood retaining no coaches
PITTSBURGH — Pitt football coach Mike Haywood apparently doesn’t plan to retain any of coach Dave Wannstedt’s assistant coaches.
Haywood interviewed Wannstedt’s staff after being hired, but no announcement has been made about any staying.
Failing to retain any current coaches might hurt Pitt keep the players it already has recruited. Of Pitt’s 18 verbal commitments, about half are looking at other schools. All were recruited by Wannstedt’s staff.
Miami assistant head coach Bill Elias is accompanying Haywood to Pitt. Elias formerly was the head coach at Gannon.
