Juanita Marie (Grubb) Birckbichler

Juanita Birckbichler

Juanita Marie (Grubb) Birckbichler, 89, of Butler passed away at her home early Thursday surrounded by loving family members.

She was born to the late Clarence B. and Ada (Riddle) Grubb on April 6, 1924, in Hannahdale, W.Va.

A 1942 Butler High School graduate, she was employed as a secretary by the Armco Steel Corp. before her marriage to William Nicholas Birckbichler in 1943.

She was a member of the Armco Girls Club, and a past president and lifetime member of several organizations, including the Buttercup Garden Club, the Meridian Woman's Club, and St. Conrad's Christian Mothers. She was a Girl Scout leader and member of the original Butler Football Mothers Club. She was a member of the first Red Hat chapter in Butler and a current member of the Red Hat Bonnets and Bifocals of Butler. As a bridge enthusiast, she participated in several local bridge clubs.

Juanita was an avid nature enthusiast who loved gardening, birdwatching and painting. She was a supporting member of the Audubon Society, the Western Conservancy, The National Wildlife Federation, and several Catholic charities.

She is survived by her two sons, William C. of Butler, and Robert O. (Joanne) of Renfrew; her three daughters, Lynda (Howard) West of Amity, Deborah (Jack) Schricker of Bradfordwoods, and Michele (Edward) Roberts of Saxonburg; 12 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by her loving husband of 59 years.

Birckbichler— There will be no visitation for Juanita Marie (Grubb) Birckbichler, who passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014.A memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Butler, with the Rev.
