Robert Stone

Robert E. Stone, 90, of Hilliards passed away at noon Wednesday at Orchard Manor in Grove City.

Robert was born Nov. 6, 1923, in Argentine. He was the son of the late William Stone and Nellie Mahood Stone.

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, having served with the 976th Air Engineer Squadron.

He was a graduate of the General Motors Institute in 1950. Bob retired after 35 years of service from Koppers as a draftsman. He was a member of Argentine Methodist Church, Parker City Lodge 521, New Castle Scottish Rite, Syria Temple, Cherry Valley VFW, American Legion Post 243 and Valley Dam Sportsman Club.

Robert is survived by his wife, Freda Burnett Hilliard Stone, who he married Oct. 21, 1950; his son, William Burton Stone and his wife, Cindy; his two grandchildren, Mary Kate and Tyler of Caldwell, N.J.; his sister-in-law, Jane Garner of Barkeyville; his brother-in-law, Jim Hilliard and his wife, Bev, of Butler; and his numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his two sisters and four brothers.

Stone — The family of Robert E. Stone, who passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014, will receive friends at William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main S., West Sunbury, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Parker City Lodge 521 will conduct Masonic services at 6 p.m. Friday.Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Kate Reitz of Boyers Methodist Church officiating.
