David Oscar Curry Jr.

David Curry

David Oscar Curry Jr., 79, a lifelong resident of Zelienople, passed away Wednesday at the Good Samaritan Hospice at the Heritage Valley Health System in Beaver.

Born on June 9, 1934, in Zelienople, he was the son of the late David Oscar and Marie (McMaster) Curry Sr.

Dave was a longtime member of the St. Gregory Catholic Church and attended St. Gregory School as a young boy.

After 22 years of dedicated service, he retired from the U.S. Post Office in Zelienople where he was a mail carrier and mail clerk.

Dave was a member of the Zelienople Borough Council for six years, an active member of the Zelienople Historical Society, treasurer of the Evans City Sportsman's Club and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He was also a member of the Zelienople Fire Department, where he served as a diver on the scuba rescue team.

Dave was an avid hunter who truly enjoyed the outdoors. Above all, the love for his community, family and friends will be most remembered by those who had the honor of knowing him.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 57 years, Ethel (Tebay) Curry, who he married on Jan. 18, 1957; his two loving children, Michael Curry and his dear friend, Gayle Brown, of Zelienople and Pamela Curry of Zelienople; his sister, Barbara “Suzie” Curry of Harmony; his two granddaughters, Ashley Dixon of Marienville and Elizabeth Rice of Las Vegas, Nev.; and his two great-grandsons, Ethan and Jacob.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Curry.

Curry— The Curry family will welcome friends of David Oscar Curry Jr., who passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home, 219 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A blessing service will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Father Lawrence R. Smith celebrating.
