County golfers score in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS — Butler Country Club pro Rob McClellan tied for low professional honors with a 204 at the 2010 Nike Las Vegas Pro-Am golf tournament.
The three-day event concluded Wednesday at the Las Vegas Paiute Resort.
McClellan carded a 66-68-70 for his 54 holes. He tied with Gordon Vietmeier of The Club at Nevillewood and Gene Walter of Pine Creek Golf Center.
There were 60 teams comprised of one pro and four amateurs. John Aubrey Sr. of Aubrey's Dubbs Dred guided his team to a second-place finish with a 121, one stroke behind the team of Brad Westfall.
Aubrey tied for 11th among the pros with a 211. He carded a 75 Wednesday after beginning the day two strokes behind the leaders.
"The wind picked up (Wednesday) and I had trouble," Aubrey said. "But these courses are absolutely beautiful.
"This was a huge event. There were plenty of golfers and it was a very good field."
McClellan couldn't be reached for comment.
Joe Boros of Treesdale Golf & Country Club also shot a 211 for the tournament, tying for 11th. Jimmy Brahm of Butler Country Club tied for 33rd with a 226.
Jeff Hunter of Butler Country Club won a skill prize on the No. 4 hole of the Sun Mountain Course.
The PGA Tour's Las Vegas Invitational begins there today.
