Warren E. 'Pete' Dambaugh Jr.
Warren E. “Pete” Dambaugh Jr., 70, of Summerville, S.C., formerly of Ellwood City, passed away Saturday of a heart attack at Trident Hospital.
Pete was born May 6, 1944, in Ellwood City, the son of the late Warren E. Dambaugh Sr. and Margaret R. Dambaugh.
“Pete,” as he was affectionately known to all, was an instructor and administrator at Trident Technical College for more than 30 years, as well as owner of Precision Automotive in North Charleston, S.C., for 30 years.
Pete was a devoted husband, father and family man. He was an avid racer and car-show enthusiast who started the “Spring Spinoff” in North Charleston. He was a founding member of the SDRA and Lowcountry Mopars.
Pete also served honorably in the U.S. Air Force for four years. Pete's work ethics were unmatched, and you could always find him in the shop or helping someone.
Mr. Dambaugh was preceded in death by his wife, Lila Marie Dambaugh, and his sister, Susan Murtland.
He is survived by three sons, Channing (Dona) Dambaugh of Florence, Ky., Eric (Cindy) Dambaugh of Goose Creek, S.C., and Gabriel Dambaugh of Charlotte, N.C.; his siblings, Peggy (Harry) Barkley, Mary Alice (Ted) Neumann, Timothy (Stacy) Dambaugh and James (Leslie) Dambaugh; his companion and partner for the last five years, Linda Proudfoot; as well as a large family tree filled with many loving cousins, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Pete's impact on the automotive industry in Charleston, S.C., through his teaching and mentoring at Trident Technical College will last for generations to come.
