Time capsule: Time capsule business seals the past for the future in 2010
Tom Marak never told his customers what to put inside their customized time capsules.
The Muddy Creek Township man had run a business based on preserving the past for future review. Time Capsules Inc. was around since 1986 and was a business that Marak ran to help people seal their physical belongings in cases to jog their memories when opened later.
Marak's business, which played heavily into it's “it's about time” motto, sold about 30 custom-made time capsules per year, according to a 2008 report.
Marak recognized it was not uncommon for people to use little more than an empty coffee can as a time capsule, but his custom capsules cost no less than $1,000.
Marak's product literature boasted a 500-year guarantee, and the price sometimes included a personal visit from Marak.
