Charles William Porter

Charles William Porter, 86, of Slippery Rock, formerly of Prospect, passed away peacefully at the Autumn Grove Care Center, Harrisville.

Born on July 1, 1928, in Moundsville, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles Henry and Ethel Crow Porter.

Mr. Porter proudly served his country from 1945 to 1953 in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy.

He was retired from Citizen Transport.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. Porter, who he married on May 13, 1960, and who passed away on May 6, 2001, and his sister.

Porter— In accordance with Mr. Porter's funeral wishes, there will be no services in Prospect for Charles William Porter, who passed away Friday, Aug. 29, 2014.Military honors will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Monday in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville.
