Pianist Vince Tavolario fills Butler symphony office with sound on Saturday
Echoes of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Music of the Night” reverberated in Butler County Symphony Orchestra’s Main Street office at noon Saturday, June 13.
The phantom was no mystery this time, though, as the symphony orchestra welcomed Vince Tavolario for its summer concert series — the second show of the season.
Tavolario entertained with popular favorites like Billy Joel’s “Piano Man,” “Music of the Night,” from “Phantom of the Opera,” Leonard Bernstein’s “America” from musical, “West Side Story,” “God Bless America,” “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and many more.
“It was fantastic,” Butler Township resident Debby Ludwig said of the performance. “So many recognizable, fun, toe-tapping tunes.”
Tavolario is a local pianist and vocalist in Butler, known for his impromptu concerts outside of his North Main Street restaurant, Natili North, his show at the Penn Theater recently sold out.
The summer concert series aims to spotlight local talent.
Patricia Stagno, president of the Butler County Symphony Orchestra Association Board of Directors, said the concerts strive to supplement the regular concert season by providing free music in a casual setting. She said these shows are a great way to connect with the community.
“It gives people a chance to frequent downtown businesses, or new restaurants, barbershops,” Stagno said. It gives patrons “a chance to kick off their weekend with live music, and there’s nothing better than live music.”
Every Saturday with the exception of July 4 and Aug. 8, the summer shows are played in the symphony office, broadcast into Diamond Park in Butler and livestreamed on Facebook.
Butler County Symphony Orchestra welcomes guests for its six regular season concerts and will also host two summer concerts in addition to the concert series.
It will hold a concert in the park to kick off the America 250 celebrations at Cranberry Community Park 7:30 p.m. July 2; and a concert celebrating music in film in partnership with Opus 1 Music Society 7:30 p.m. Aug. 8 at North Catholic High School.
Next week’s Summer Concert Series will be performed by the symphony’s principal flutist, Cassandra Eisenreich, followed by the Helsels the next week and Radiant Strings the week after.
