Gretl N. Straughn Milliren
Gretl N. Straughn Milliren, 42, of Freeport passed away peacefully Tuesday at her home.
Gretl was born in Natrona Heights on April 25, 1972. She was the daughter of Yetta M. Scott Straughn and Edward L. Straughn, who survive her in Buffalo Township.
Gretl was a 1991 graduate of Freeport Area High School.
After school, she enrolled in the Career Training Academy in New Kensington where she studied to be a medical assistant. She received her specialized technology degree in phlebotomy.
Gretl enjoyed working with flowers and working at her grandmother's flower shop, the “Flower Basket,” in Saxonburg. She enjoyed going to the Pittsburgh Zoo and Living Treasures Animal Park. She and her family always loved going to Gettysburg each year and she had a great passion for reading, especially the writings of Stephen King.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Christian M. Milliren; her two children, Cheyanne Straughn of Freeport and Dallas Straughn of Buffalo Township; her brother, Erik (Amy) Straughn of Herman, and her two stepchildren, Zachary and McKenna Milliren of Ada, Okla. She is also survived by her many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Edward E. Straughn and Irene McDivitt, and her maternal grandparents, Chester and Ann Scott.
