William R. “Fred” Maier, 76, of Butler passed away Saturday at VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.

Born on Dec. 19, 1937, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late William F. and Marie Gubert Maier.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Margaret Mikus Maier; his son, William R. (Sandi) Maier Jr.; his grandchildren, Matthew Maier and Katie Maier; his brother, Richard (Margie) Maier of Troy Hill; and his sister, Darlene (William) Jermalowski of Shaler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald “Chew” Maier.
