George J. Istenes

George J. Istenes, 80, of Butler Township, formerly of Shaler Township, passed away Saturday.

He was the beloved husband of the late Mary C. Chetoka Istenes; loving father of MarySue (Rob) Freyvogel and the late George R. Istenes; grandfather of Colin, Stacia, Andrew and Jonathan Freyvogel; brother of Bob Istenes, Ray (Marjorie) Istenes and the late Agnes Joseph, Anna Meyer, Dorothy Bier, Viola Nemeth and Ruth Ann St. Clair.

He is also survived by his numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Before his retirement, George worked as an industrial mechanic for Armour Meats.

His proficiency for car repair made him the go-to guy for all things automobile. He was an avid car builder and Harley rider. He was a member of the Harley Owners Group and the National Street Machine Association.

His pleasant demeanor and outgoing personality made him well known. In fact, he didn't go to many places without bumping into someone he knew.

Istenes— The friends of George J. Istenes, who passed away Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. today in theHealy-Hahn Funeral Home, 512 Grant Ave., Millvale, where a funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.
