Men ask county to join election audit group

Director: Election was free and fair

Two men attended the county commissioners meeting Wednesday to ask that the county join Audit the Vote PA, a nonprofit group that is demanding a forensic audit of the 2020 election statewide.

Michael Chopp told the commissioners “massive physical voter fraud” occurred in some of the state's Democratic-majority counties, where he said votes were switched from Donald Trump to Joe Biden.

He said between 2016 and 2017 in Butler County, Republican voter registration grew by more than 7%. He said Trump received 66% of the vote in 2016, but 65% in 2020.

“Logically, this tells anyone there's something wrong with the data, in my opinion,” Chopp said. “We should have had a minimum 7% increase in the vote total for Trump.”

He said he is concerned that his vote and others in Butler County “have been stolen.”

Chopp asked the commissioners to join Audit the Vote PA, “so the integrity of the elections in our county can be verified or disproven.”

Aaron Sheasley, county elections bureau director, said after the meeting that the 2020 elections were free and fair.

Erik Edwards of Penn Township decried the ES&S voting systems used in Butler County since 2004, saying they can be hacked.

“Just recently in Fayette County, ballots for Republicans only were not scanned properly and had to be either adjudicated or corrected in some form,” Edwards said.

Edwards told the commissioners they should join Audit the Vote PA unless they have something to hide.

“I love Butler County, and I love America, and I just want to make sure that everyone's vote counts and, win or lose, we at least know that our votes mean something,” Edwards said.

He claimed that Democrats also do not believe the 2020 election was free and fair.

“Our machines are under lock and key and are not internet-accessible,” Sheasley said.

He added that he has no concerns over any ballots being switched from one candidate to another.

Neither man speaking during the public comment portion of the meeting seemed aware of or mentioned the commissioners' decision to form an elections review commission after the 2020 general election because of their concerns about the election or the report the commission recently produced.

The commissioners, who did not reply to Chopp or Edwards or take action on joining Audit the Vote PA, could be seen talking at length to Chopp after the meeting.
