Summit Township approves loan for sewer project

SUMMIT TWP — Township supervisors moved forward with applying for a $2.5 million loan to help fund a sewer project at their meeting Wednesday, June 3.

The loan will come from the Butler County Infrastructure Bank and will provide the township with the capital it needs to apply for a PENNVEST infrastructure grant.

Summit Township Supervisors Chairman David Barry said, “If we don’t have it (the Butler County Infrastructure Bank) loan, they won’t even consider us.”

Supervisors plan to apply for the grant in October and will hear back from PENNVEST in January.

In other business, supervisors:

  • Approved buying a cold storage building for $171,714.50 pending a review of options for a permanent building.
  • Approved grant applications for funds to build a new garage for township vehicles and resurface Bonniebrook Road.
