Mary Jane Ley
Mary Jane Ley, 91, of Butler passed away Thursday at VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.
She was born on Sept. 12, 1923, in Curtisville, the daughter of the late William and Emily Major Mathewson.
Mary Jane graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics School of Business.
She was a secretary for Ford Collieries Mining Company before she married her husband, Robert E. Ley, in 1950.
She was of Christian faith. Mary Jane enjoyed doing all kinds of crafts, gardening and playing piano.
Surviving are her three daughters, Virginia Carr of Butler, Vivian Ley of Butler and Elizabeth (Russell V.) Hull of Springfield, Ohio; her two sons, Edward Ley of Byesville, Ohio, and Daniel Ley of Butler; her two grandsons, David (Tessa) Carr of Butler and Scott Carr of Michigan, and her sister, Wilma (Jean) Pressau of Evans City.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Ley, who died in 1994; her sister, Dorothy Mathewson, and her brothers, George and Howard Mathewson.
