LaVerne William Wetzel, 84, of Eustis, Fla., passed away Sunday.

Born in Cabot, he moved to Eustis in 1961 from Hannahstown. He was a math teacher at Eustis High School from 1961 to 1994.

LaVerne served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and he was a member of St. Philip Lutheran Church, Mount Dora, Fla.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Audean Wetzel of Eustis; one son, David Wetzel of Jackson, Miss.; two daughters, Denise Crow of Eustis and DeAnn Knudsen of Lakeland, Ga.; two brothers, Carl Wetzel of Butler and Fred Wetzel of Grove City; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
