Robert G. Boyles

Robert G. Boyles, 84, of Butler passed away at 11 p.m. Friday at Butler VNA Inpatient Hospice.

He was born Aug. 24, 1930, in Wilkinsburg, the son of the late Paul W. Boyles and Ruth (Wright) Boyles.

Robert was a member of Westminster PCA, where he was a past elder and deacon.

He had been a teacher for Butler Area Schools for 36 years.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired from the U.S. Army Reserves as a lieutenant colonel after 20 years service. He was also a member of the Lake Arthur Sailing Club and the Butler Education Association.

Surviving are his wife, Katherine (Stepp) Boyles, who he married Aug. 20, 1955; two daughters, Marilyn (the Rev. Tom) Dawson of O'Fallon, Ill., and Molly Boyles of Basel, Switzerland; and two grandchildren, Katie (Josh) Anderson and Jon Dawson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his aunts and uncles who raised him.

BOYLES — A memorial service for Robert G. Boyles, who died Friday, April 10, 2015, will be at Westminster Presbyterian Church PCA, 420 N. Main St., Butler, at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
