Gary E. Barnhart

Gary E. Barnhart, 73, of Anderson, S.C., husband of Roberta Detar Barnhart, passed away Thursday at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Butler County on Nov. 3, 1938, he was the son of the late Richard G. Barnhart and the late Catherine Dunn Barnhart.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for six years.

He was an electrical contractor and owner of Barnhart Electric for more than 31 years. He was a member of the Vintage Driver Club of America, the Historic Sportscar Racing and the NRA.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Dawn I. Barnhart of Denver, Colo., Laura D. Barnhart and her husband, Tim Turner, of Charlotte, N.C., and Stacy L. Barnhart Mercado and her husband, Edward Mercado, of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, Harold Barnhart of Butler; one sister, Deanna C. Cawthorne of Butler; one brother-in-law, Donald Detar of Anderson, S.C.; and one granddaughter, Lauren Mercado.

BARNHART — The family of Gary E. Barnhart, who died Thursday, June 7, 2012, received friends on Sunday, June 10, at the McDougald Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Anderson, S.C. The funeral service was today at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with the Rev.
