Allen B. Christy
Allen B. Christy, 84, of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of Butler, passed away Saturday.
Born in Parker, he was the son of Kenneth A. Christy and Vernice Christy. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on board the USS Wren.
Allen was a charter member of the Faith United Presbyterian Church in Butler.
A well known local barber, he owned and operated the Christy's Barber Shops until moving to North Carolina in 1987. Allen was recognized as the first national “Barber of the Year” in 1960.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jane McMinn Christy; his children, Bob (Debby) Christy, Kim Christy and Barb (Ron) McKissick; his grandchildren, Kenneth and Ashley Christy and Ian and Taylor McKissick; and two great-grandsons, Ben and Preston.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant sister, Betty, and his brother, Charles “Bert” Christy.
