James P. Barlett
James P. Barlett, 80, of Dade City, Fla., formerly of Cherry Valley, Butler County, passed away at 4:25 p.m. Thursday at Heritage Park in Dade City following an illness.
Born in Emlenton, Richland Township, on March 6, 1935, he was the son of the late William J. and Bertha (Betty) Martin Barlett.
He was married to the former Constance “Connie” Thorhauer on Sept. 23, 1961, at the Scrubgrass Stone Church, and she survives.
Jim retired in 1998 following 37 years of service with the former Quaker State Refining at Emlenton. He was a filter house operator-foreman at retirement.
He was a Protestant, and he was a 1954 graduate of the former St. Petersburg High School.
Mr. Barlett was an honorably discharged veteran of four years service with the U.S. Air Force. He served much of his service as a chaplain's assistant stationed at Chanute AFB in Illinois.
An avid hunter, he was skilled with the bow and arrow as well as rifle.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Sloan of Emlenton and Marlene Reisinger of Kennerdell; two brothers, Leroy “Sam” Barlett of St. Petersburg and William Barlett of Parker; and several nieces and nephews.
