Norma Jean Matthews, 72, of Cranberry Township passed away Sunday while at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler.

Born Jan. 13, 1943, in Homestead, Pa., she was the daughter of the late James A. and Leona (Ondick) Mehaffey.

Norma was a former member of the Cranberry Community United Presbyterian Church.

She worked as a cashier at Revco's and later as a fitting room attendant at Hills and a door greeter at Walmart in Cranberry Township.

Norma had an outgoing and friendly personality. Above all, she enjoyed taking care of her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

Norma is survived by her husband, William R. Matthews, who she married on Oct. 3, 1970; her son, James W. Matthews of Doylestown; her daughter, Karen M. (Joshua) Shaffer of York, S.C.; five grandchildren, Conor, Julia and Dylan Matthews and Mackenzie and William Shaffer; and two sisters, Leona “Babs” (Jack) Magyar of West Mifflin and Patricia “Patsy” Mehaffey of Pittsburgh.

MATTHEWS — The family of Norma Jean Matthews, who died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township.A funeral ceremony will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Andrew Shaffer officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Pinewood Memorial Gardens.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Norma's honor to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfamilyservices.com.
