Robert M. Hays
Robert M. Hays, 87, of Chestnut Ridge Drive, Clarion, passed away Wednesday at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler.
Born March 2, 1928, at home in the Hays family farmstead in Piney Township, Clarion County, he was the son of the late Fred J. and Iva L. (Miller) Hays. On June 2, 1962, he married the former Edith L. Beck, who survives.
He was a very active member of Clarion Free Methodist Church for more than 60 years, and then he became a member of First United Methodist Church of Clarion.
He was a farmer, and then he worked for the Clarion Post Office for 30 years, retiring in 1988. He was a committed husband and father and was well thought of by everyone.
He enjoyed gardening, tractors, trains, bird watching, reading and visiting with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, surviving are his daughter, Cinthia K. Hays; his son, R. Colin (Donna) Hays; two grandchildren, Robert P. and Theresa M. Hays, both of Butler; two sisters, Anna Belle Rau of Butler and Arta L. Hain of Harrisburg; his aunt, Kathryn I. Styers; and his uncle, Calvin D. Miller, both of Clarion; and several nieces and nephews.
His brother, William D. Hays, preceded him in death.
HAYS — Friends and family of Robert M. Hays, who died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood St., Clarion.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Kevin R. Haley, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Clarion, officiating.
