Dwight William Allerton

Dwight William Allerton, 99, of Harmony, formerly of Prospect and Sebring, Fla., passed away Wednesday at the Evergreen Nursing Center in Harmony.

He was born June 18, 1916, in Glenshaw, the son of the late John William and Lillian (Johnson) Allerton.

He married the former Frances London on June 3, 1939. She preceded him in death Feb. 3, 2011.

Dwight was a member of the First Baptist Church, Butler, and a former member of the Maranantha Baptist Church of Sebring, Fla. He was owner and operator of Aljuron Poultry Farm in Prospect.

He and his wife, “Sally” traveled extensively, visiting all 50 states and several foreign countries. They made several mission trips to assist missionaries with various projects.

Dwight bought his first motorcycle in the 1970s, and two of their destinations were California and Canada. He continued riding until he was 94.

Surviving are his daughter, Judith (Donald) Raisley of Harmony; his son, Ronald (Sherry) Allerton of Westerville, Ohio; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, one grandson, his parents, his sister and two brothers.

ALLERTON — Friends of Dwight W. Allerton, who died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of service at noon Saturday at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, with the Rev. Dave Maitland and the Rev. Sam McNamara, both pastors, officiating.Interment will be in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.Contributions in memory of Dwight, may be made to help support missionary, Jim Lossing, who Dwight and his wife had supported for many years.
