William R. Hackett
William R. “Bill” Hackett, 78, of Butler went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday.
He was born April 3, 1937, in Butler to the late Thomas Glenn Hackett and Lorene (Shields) Hackett.
Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and supported them at their events. Bill was a member of the Community Alliance Church, where he had served on the hospitality committee. He was an avid follower of Christ and passed that legacy on to his family.
He worked in the transportation division at Armco for 37 years.
Bill loved his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rose (Jager) Hackett, whom he married Feb. 6, 1958; one son, Rick Hackett and his wife, Shelbi, of Columbia, Md.; one daughter, Colleen Stamm and her husband, Bob, of Butler; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Victor and Thomas Hackett; and two sisters, Zoe Ellen Miller and Patty Sharrar.
HACKETT — Friends of William R. Hackett, who died Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Road, Butler, with the Rev. Dr. Dennis L.
