David M. Lewis

David M. Lewis, 96, of Harmony passed away Monday at the Evergreen Nursing Home.

Born Dec. 2, 1919, in Clarksburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late Harry A. and Nora Dee (Ashcraft) Lewis.

Dave proudly served our country in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Throughout his life, he worked a variety of jobs, but he retired from the U.S. Post Office as a mail handler in 1988.

Dave was a member of the Grace Church of Harmony. He and his wife were involved with the historical society for many years, and he served as past president of the Harmony Museum.

He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Bernice (Stamm) Lewis, who he married Nov. 10, 1949; his son, Robert S. Lewis of Harmony; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his son, David M. Lewis Jr.; and nine brothers and sisters.

LEWIS — The family of David M. Lewis, who died Monday, June 20, 2016, will welcome friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, with the Rev. Peter J. Everett, pastor, officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Grace Church of Harmony Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Harmony Museum, 218 Mercer St., P.O. Box 524, Harmony, PA 16037 or to the Zelienople Public Library, 227 S. High St., Zelienople, PA 16063.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
