Harry P. Texter
Harry P. Texter, 93, of Parker passed away Sunday evening at the Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sligo, following a brief period of declining health.
The VNA of Butler and of Clarion-Forest had been working closely with Harry and family these past few weeks.
Born in July 4, 1923, West Freedom, Clarion County, he was the son of the late Aron and Margaret Pollum Texter.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Parker.
Harry attended Parker area schools, and then joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served mostly in the South Pacific during World War II.
He was employed at the Kopper's Chemical Corp., now Indespec, in Petrolia for over 36 years. He retired as a specialty foreman at the refinery.
Harry was a true sports fan, watching as many games of all types as possible on TV.
He was married to the former Verda Gray on Feb. 11, 1949, in Petrolia, and she survives. He is also survived by his sons, Patrick and Michael; five grandsons; two granddaughters; and nine great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
