Leora Thompson
Leora Thompson, 87, of Butler passed away Tuesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
Born Feb. 5, 1929, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late John and Lucy Longville Langland.
She was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
A graduate of Butler County Community College, Leora was a retired secretary from the office of C. M. Spina, M.D. She also formerly was employed as an operator for Bell Telephone.
Leora was an active volunteer at Saint Michael the Archangel Church, and she was also a member of the 55 & Alive of Saint Michael's.
She is survived by three sons, Ronald Bradley Thompson and his wife, Kathy, of Butler, Steven Thompson Jr. of Butler and Timothy Thompson of Butler; one daughter, Rona Smith and her husband, Thomas, of Cabot; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve N. Thompson Sr., who died Sept. 3, 2000; and two brothers, Ron Langland and Paul Langland.
THOMPSON — Friends of Leora Thompson, who died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler.Entombment will take place at Saint Michael's Cemetery Mausoleum.The bereavement group of Saint Michael the Archangel Parish will meet at 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home for a scriptural wake service.For more information, visit www.martinfh.net.
