Martha “Jody” Groves Thompson
Martha “Jody” Groves Thompson, 85, of Chicora passed away Monday.
She was born June 9, 1931, in Butler to the late Samuel J. Groves and Elizabeth Willis Groves.
Mrs. Thompson was a homemaker. She was a member of the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Thompson also taught at Family Life Academy in Chicora.
She is survived by three sons, F. Paul Thompson and his wife, Brenda, of Chicora, Benjamin Thompson and his wife, Donna, of Bruin, Pa., and Jeffrey Thompson and his wife, Stephanie, of Curlsville, Pa.; one daughter, Jean Smith and her husband, Gale, of Chicora; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Flatt of Butler and Mary Ward Kinnear of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick E. Thompson, who she married Sept. 6, 1949, and who died Dec. 30, 2012; two great-grandchildren; two brothers; and eight sisters.
THOMPSON — Friends of Martha “Jody” Groves Thompson, who died Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, 200 Fared Drive, Butler.Funeral services will immediately follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Jenks of Faith Fellowship Alliance Church officiating.
