Warren Albert Smith
Warren Albert Smith, 84, of Butler, passed away Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.
Born May 12, 1937, in Great Belt, he was the son of the late Evelyn and LaVerne “Bud” Smith. He had two siblings, Diann Maciejewski and the late Neal Smith.
Warren Smith was a graduate of Grove City College, and continued his education at Carnegie Mellon University. He celebrated a 40+ year career, traveling the world as a metallurgical engineer for U.S. Steel Corp., (now USX).
Happily married for 59 years, Warren Smith was a loyal, loving and generous person, both as a husband and father. He also had a tremendous work ethic and commitment to quality. Among his favorite expressions were, “Do it right or don't do it,” and “When a Smith builds something, it stays built.”
An active member of All Saints Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Warren Smith led the rosary for a number of years. He also had a strong personal commitment to the Blessed Mary and prayed one rosary a day in her honor, from the age of 26 through to his final days.
Married on Sept. 15, 1962, Warren was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Zensen) Smith.
He is survived by his children, Janet (Jeff) Peters and Jason Smith; four grandchildren, Andrew (Hillary) Peters, Corbet (Becky) Peters, Faith (Matt) Cosby and Justin Peters; and five great-grandchildren, Blake, Caleb, Lorelai, Emma and Kyle.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated privately.
His final resting place is next to his wife at St. Mary's Cemetery in Herman.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.
