Delores “Midge” Jean Cavanaugh

Delores “Midge” Jean Cavanaugh, 89, of Slippery Rock Township passed away Saturday at HCR Manor Care at Pittsburgh following an extended illness.

She was born Oct. 12, 1927, in Pittsburgh, to Eugene and Lillian Kimmins. She married James Earl Cavanaugh in 1948, and he preceded her in death May 9, 1999.

She had retired from the Slippery Rock School District where she had worked as the cafeteria manager at Harrisville Elementary. She was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Slippery Rock and the auxiliary of both the Grove City American Legion Post 220 and Stanley Snyder VFW Post 7465 of Springfield Township.

Survivors include her son, James E. Cavanaugh Jr., and his wife, Susan, of Pittsburgh; her stepgranddaughter, Capt. Carla Scott, and her husband, Capt. Dale Scott; and her great-granddaughter, Abigail Scott.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Thomas Joseph Cavanaugh; two brothers, Eugene and Paul Kimmins; and her sister, Mildred Weidenhof.

CAVANAUGH — The family of Delores “Midge” Jean Cavanaugh, who died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.A Mass of Christian burial will be at a 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 670 S. Main St., Slippery Rock, with the Rev. Robert Seeman officiating. Interment will be at the Slippery Rock Cemetery.
