Cranberry Area gave Moniteau softball no room for error, running away with an 10-0, six-inning win in the District 9 Class 2A semifinals.

Berries pitcher Gracee Hess struck out nine and allowed just one hit and a walk in six innings. Emma Fitzingo recorded the No. 3 Warriors’ only base knoch. No. 2 Cranberry’s Emma Morrow finished 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored.

Moniteau will play fourth-seed Keystone, an 11-9 loser against Brockway, in a third-place game 3 p.m. Monday at Moniteau High School. The Warriors could still get a shot at one of the two D9 spots that make the PIAA tournament if they win and Brockway loses in Monday’s championship. Should that scenario happen, Moniteau would play a “true second place game” Tuesday.

The Raiders won by set scores of 25-20, 25-21, 20-25, 25-12 at Moon High School. No individual stats were available. The state championships begin the week of June 1.
