Opal V. Steffy
Opal V. Orton Steffy, 86, of Emlenton passed away Saturday surrounded by her family.
She was born Feb. 8, 1931, in Allegheny Township. She was the daughter of the late Orville and Elma Violet Johns Orton.
Opal was a graduate of the former Parker High School, graduating in 1949. She was married to the late Walter Steffy, who preceded her in death in 1985.
Opal was a homemaker and caregiver throughout her life. She was a member of the Allegheny Presbyterian Church and later the Bethel United Methodist Church of Eau Claire. She was very active in the churches, holding various positions throughout her tenure which spanned more than 51 years.
She is survived by one sister, Dorothy Hansotte of Butler; one brother, Sam (Lois) Orton of Emlenton; her sister in-law, Ramona Orton; and seven nieces and nephews, Ron Hansotte, Tina Dunkle, Tammy Thompson, Brad Orton, Pam Wenner, Tim Orton and Tracy Irwin.
In addition to her parents and husband, Opal was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Orton.
STEFFY — Friends of Opal V. Orton Steffy, who died Saturday, March 25, 2017, will be received from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home in Eau Claire, 201 S. Washington St.
The funeral service will follow at noon with the Rev. Darrel Knopp of the Presbyterian Church in Emlenton officiating. Interment will follow at the Allegheny Church Cemetery near Parker.
