Joseph H. Neely Sr.

Joseph H. Neely Sr., 78, of Eastbrook, Lawrence County, passed away Monday afternoon at his residence.

Born Sept. 3, 1939, in Mars, he was the son of Joseph and Grace Cappla.

He married Hollie Thomas Neely on Dec. 31, 1971. She survives at home.

Mr. Neely was a graduate of Evans City High School.

He served his country in the U.S. Air Force as an airplane mechanic.

Joseph was a self employed blacksmith, a truck driver and farmer and had worked in various lumber yards until his retirement in 2005.

Among his favorite activities were spending time with his family and enjoying outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing and horses. Joseph was also an Eagle Scout.

He was a member of Eastbrook Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Joseph “Hank” (Michelle) Neely Jr. of New Castle; one grandson, Joseph “Henry” Neely III; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Vern Neely.

NEELY — A private service for Joseph H. Neely Sr., who died Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date. Burial will be at Eastbrook Presbyterian Cemetery.Funeral arrangements were entrusted to R.
