At 26 years, Kids Day America has reached a neat milestone
Kids Day America took place Saturday, May 9, at the Butler Farm Show.
The event, which is still organized by the same group that founded it, reached its 26th year Saturday. That’s a long time for a free event for children to go on. It is organized by Care Chiropractic Center to provide activities for families and to raise money for a local organization each year. This year’s benefactor was Fishing For Memories.
With the attendance of this year’s event strong, despite the morning being cold and rainy, we are likely to see another Kids Day America next year and probably one annually well into the future.
It’s not like this event will go out of style — it’s goal is the same as it was decades ago, as shown by previously documented experiences people had at Kids Day America. People also often want something to do outside when the first days of spring hit, even when they are more inclement than expected.
The event offers a day of vendor provided experiences to quench childhood curiosity. Groups set up tables filled with attractions, games, balloons or informational packets with services they offer, educating the whole family on the county’s resources. Participation from area groups who also provide activity and even information is great for continued community engagement with the event.
We’ll see if this Butler County staple can go on another 26 years, but even if it ends soon, it provided an outlet for families and for organizations from 1999 to 2026 and counting.
