Happy Birthday, Sis!! YOU ARE MISSED MORE THAN WORDS CAN DESCRIBE!!!

Usually, when I am writing to you the words come easy, but, this year I have been procrastinating in writing this tribute to you. I didn’t want to. Not because I didn’t want to wish you a Happy Birthday, of couse I did! You made me a mom! You taught me what it was to love someone, what is was to care about someone other than myself. I guess I just didn’t want to admit again that you wouldn’t be home to celebrate with me, with us, your family. It still breaks my heart and makes me so sad. My heart still aches. Sure, I can still put a smile on my face and carry on a conversation but my heart always hurts and is always broke. They don’t tell you that part when you lose a child. They don’t tell you the pain never leaves, it changes, but it never leaves and the person you once were, is no more. How could you be, when a part of you is gone.

So, you can see why this year was difficult for me to write and wish you a Happy Birthday on paper when I want so badly to hold you in my arms and hug you and smell your hair and your perfume and hear you say “Ok Mom, you can let go now”!

If I could blow the candles out and make a wish, I’d wish to spend another birthday with you and hear your laugh one more time. I know though, as we celebrate you BIRTHday here on earth, you are surrounded in Heaven by all you grandparents celebrating YOU in the true Heavenly fashion with “Our Father” right beside you.

YOU are missed every day, Caitlyn; but on your birthday, that’s a day, that’s just a bit tougher to get through.

You continue to live on through us and we’ll never let your memory fade away.
