Pitt gets CBI win against Wofford
PITTSBURGH — Pitt advanced in the College Basketball Invitational Wednesday night with an 81-63 win over Wofford before a sparse crowd at the Petersen Events Center.
The Panthers (18-16) struck for a season-high 14 3-pointers in the victory.
Pitt will host Princeton — a 95-86 winner over Evansville Tuesday — Monday at a time to be determined.
J.J. Moore and Tray Woodall led five Panthers in double figures with 16 points each. Woodall added nine assists while Lamar Patterson had 13 points, Ashton Gibbs and Talib Zanna 12 each.
Drew Crowell paced Wofford (19-14) with 16 points.
Gibbs pulled into an eighth-place tie with Billy Knight on Pitt’s all-time scoring list with 1,731 points.
