Starwood Scholarship awarded to three graduating seniors
Three seniors graduating from Butler Senior high School were selected to receive the Starwood Scholarships, provided by a local couple through the Pittsburgh Foundation.
The scholarship is $20,000 each, with $5,000 given to each recipient over four years. It is available to graduating seniors of Butler Senior and Knoch high schools who are planning to attend a four-year college. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA to receive all four years of the scholarship.
This year’s recipients are Logan Ekas, Leah Poskin and Preston Richter.
Logan, son of Carl and Levon Ekas, has received numerous track and field achievements and awards, including six varsity letters and achievement awards. Logan plans to attend Slippery Rock University, majoring in exercise science.
Leah, daughter of Joseph and Alicia Poskin, was involved in numerous activities and volunteer interests, while receiving awards in many. Leah plans to attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania, majoring in early education/special education.
Preston, son of Jessica Richter-Priatko and Jacobe Karenbaur, is a baseball enthusiast and has played on the high school team, receiving the MVP during his junior varsity year. Preston plans to attend Slippery Rock University, majoring in marketing.
