East wins 3 of 4 games

Kutztown, Shippensburg and Mercyhurst joined West Chester as first-round PSAC Tournament winners Wednesday at Pullman Park.

Kutztown 5, Gannon 4 — Former Butler BlueSox standout Shayne Houck had two singles and an RBI for the Golden Bears (33-15). Winning pitcher Tom Neely improved to 7-1 on the year by striking out eight in six innings.

Shippensburg 5, Californa 4 — Simon Beloff homered, doubled and had two RBI for the Red Raiders (31-19). J.B. Sapienza had three singles and two RBI for Cal.

Mercyhurst 5, Millersville 1 — Winning pitcher Ben Rawding allowed one run in seven innings. Ethan Santora paced the Lakers (36-13) with a double, single and RBI.Mercyhurst is playing without PSAC hit leader and Freeport graduate Ryan Siegel, who is out for the season with a broken hand.

Thursday’s ScheduleGame 5: Gannon vs. Slippery Rock, 9:30 a.m. (loser eliminated)

Game 6: California vs. Millersville, 12:30 p.m. (loser eliminated)

Game 7: Kutztown vs. West Chester, 3:30 p.m.

Game 8: Shippensburg vs. Mercyhurst, 6:30 p.m.
