Ex-BlueSox player signs with Rays
Former Butler BlueSox catcher Ryan McChesney has signed a free agent contract with the Tampa Bay Rays.
McChesney played for the BlueSox in 2009, hitting .202 in 48 games while leading the team with four home runs and 30 walks in its inaugural season.
He enjoyed a productive senior season at Florida Tech this spring, hitting .368 with seven homers and 39 RBI.
McChesney will begin play with the Gulf Coast League Rays in Port Charlotte, Fla.
