Farm tour committee plans for fall, future
We've all heard the saying "time flies when you're having fun." When it comes to the Butler County Farm Tour, time certainly has flown by and, based on the response to past tours, we have had fun.
This year will mark the 10th anniversary of the Butler County Farm Tour. We are beginning plans for another fun and educational program for families to enjoy together and it's not too early to mark your calendar for Oct. 6.
Over the years, the farm tour has showcased a variety of farms and agriculture related businesses in Butler County. We have visited different areas of the county as well, and have enjoyed the hospitality of our gracious hosts.
Each year has provided unique opportunities to learn more about the bounty of crops and agricultural enterprises to be found in our own backyard.
To mark our 10th anniversary, the planning committee is asking for your help. We are conducting a survey to learn more about what types of farms tour participants are interested in visiting. Everyone's input is welcomed. The suggestions we receive will be used to plan for 2007 and beyond.
Please take a few moments on a cold winter evening to respond to the following questions. You can jot your ideas down on a piece of paper and mail them to Donna Zang at 101 Motor Pool Way, Butler, PA 16001, or you may e-mail your response to dsz1@psu.edu. All responses will be confidential and will be used by the farm tour committee for information and planning purposes only.
The Butler County Farm Tour has enjoyed the support of the community since its inception. Thanks goes out to everyone who has provided financial support, served on the planning committee, hosted a tour or participated as a visitor.
Community involvement is what makes this tour special. I'll look forward to hearing from you and learning more about your interests for future tours.
