Paints top BlueSox with walk-off in 9th
Ryan Fitzgerald went 4-for-4 for Butler, but for the second straight game Chillicothe earned a walk-off win over the BlueSox, 6-5, in Prospect League baseball action Friday night.
The Paints scored two runs with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning on a single by Nick Lombardi.
Butler (12-10) tallied two runs in the top of the eighth and one more in the top of the ninth to take a 5-4 lead.
Adam Tyson took the loss in relief for Butler, but the winning run was unearned after the fourth BlueSox error of the night.
West Virginia 4, Slippery Rock 1 — The Miners scored a run in the top of the sixth and added three more in the top of the seventh to snap the Sliders’ three-game winning streak.
Slippery Rock (9-13) managed just three hits, two coming off the bat of Matt Calhoun, who smashed his third home run of the season, a solo shot, in the bottom of the seventh.
Zach Place picked up the loss for the Sliders.
