Slippery Rock Area board approves quote for roof work
SLIPPERY ROCK ― Slippery Rock Area School District’s board unanimously approved installation of a platform and railings leading to the only roof access at Slippery Rock Area Middle School during its meeting Monday, April 27.
The Harrisville-based company Staab Brothers Inc. was approved for the project at a cost of $10,355.39.
“They’re a good company to deal with,” board member Vito Pilosi said.
The walkway and railings will be an estimated six to eight feet in length. They will lead to the only parapet with roof access for future servicing and roof maintenance.
Board members emphasized the importance of the safety features.
“I saw the pictures and wondered how anyone would walk there without a safety harness or something,” board member Gregory Schiller said.
