Ben Lucas carded a 77 to help the Grove City boys golf team to a second-place finish at the 10-team Mercer County Tee-Off Tournament Thursday at Pine Grove Golf Course.

Hickory won with a four-player score of 328 while the Eagles were second with 336 points. Slippery Rock was fifth with 350 points.

Lucas was joined by teammates Matt Gordon (80), Pat Rastatter (88) and Bob Lucas (91) while the Rockets were a model of consistency with 87s by Alex Sparn, Alec Nebel and Bob Paczkowski plus an 89 by Dalton Lawniczak.

Slippery Rock and Grove City return to the links Monday at Tam O’Shanter for the first Region 2 Megamatch of the season.
