BlueSox beaten in 12th
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Cayce Bredlau drew a bases-loaded walk with two outs in the bottom of the 12th inning, allowing Tyler Lawrence to trot home with the winning run as host Terre Haute downed the Butler BlueSox 3-2 in Prospect League baseball action Wednesday.
The Rex trailed 2-1 entering the bottom of the inning, but scored the equalizer when Matt Chavarria’s single plated Rey Perez. Both the tying and winning runs were charged to losing pitcher Dan Kopcak, who walked three and allowed two hits in just 2/3 of an inning.
Butler (11-8) took the lead in the top of the 12th with Jeff Revesz’s sacrifice fly scoring Nick Sell.
Denis Lyman started on the mound for the BlueSox and struck out five, walked four and allowed one run despite not surrendering a hit in 4 2/3 innings.
Stephen Sada singled twice and drove in Butler’s first run in the top of the sixth inning.
Butler will take on the host Rex again tonight.
