In memory of Marilyn Ann Hogg

May 27, 1937 to February 10, 2000

This poem was read by her granddaughter at her funeral, but summarizes the joy she brought to her entire family:

My Grandma is one of the greatest people I have known,

When you are with her you never feel alone.

She always knew the right thing to say,

And how to make the best of your day.

She always said just what she thought,

Even some things that other people would have not.

When I was little we had a nice tea party,

Eating Ritz crackers and drinking little cups of tea.

Then we played card games of crazy eight,

The times we played were always great.

We played 500 when I grew older,

Trying to be like her and act bolder,

She could always bid higher than anyone,

But the thing that amazed me was she almost always won.

Everyone had a lot of fun times with her,

One of mine was our trips to Lancaster.

She did a lot of funny things when the girls went out there,

Like singing Achy Breaky Heart and kicking her leg in the air.

She was always ready to go shopping,

Every time I turned around she was always talking.

It seemed like she knew everyone around,

And could get a good deals on anything she found,

She like to go on camping trips,

Sitting around the fire, giving us different tips.

She always liked to tell people what to do,

The best thing to do, she always knew.

Her last couple months were not her best,

She was definitely put through a hard test.

That is not what she would want us to remember her for,

But instead remember all the good times we had before.

My Grandma is one the most special people I have ever knew,

Grandma, I want you to know that my life is better because of all the good times I shared with you.
